Landscapers

To meet the requirements of landscapers, Turf Centre is open from 7.30am enabling early morning ordering and collections.

Turf Centre depot always stock freshly harvested J2 turf, suitable for most domestic lawns and general landscaping applications.

Should you wish to collect a specific grade of turf, simply phone the office to discuss your requirements and arrange a time for collection and your turf will be cut to order. Should you require information on aftercare for your customers with a newly installed Turf Centre lawn, let us know so that it may be sent with the delivery note or else prepared for collection from the depot.

Big Rolls are fast becoming the prefered method of laying large, regular shaped areas quickly with little labour. There is the added bonus of fewer joints to grow over, greater resistance to shrinkage and an area which can be used or maintained sooner after laying.

Turf Centre delivers its Big Rolls by forklift and provides a free to use manual laying trolley which is delivered along with the turf (any damage must be paid for by the customer), once the job is complete the customer just has to return the trolley to our depot along with the tubes the turf is harvested on...Its that simple. There is a small premium for Big Rolls due to the increased time and labour required during harvesting and longer unloading on site, this is more than offset in the time and labour saving during installation.

Following requests we now offer a Big Roll laying frame for use on 3 point linkage of trade customers mini tractors (turf tyres recommended) to further speed up installation. It can be used to lay the rolls or to supply the manual laying trolley during inclement weather. Contact office for details. Big Rolls only available on orders over 400 Sq.M.

Garden Centres & Nurseries

Turf Centre has been supplying direct to garden centres and nurseries in Hampshire, West Sussex, Surrey and surrounding areas since we were established in 1971.

We appreciate the shelf life for turf is limited so our minimum order to qualify for free delivery is just 80 Sq.M. Alternatively, you are welcome to collect any amount from our depot.

We employ a number of techniques to extend turf shelf life and have produced literature, designed specifically for businesses like yours, aimed at providing you with the information to continue our shelf life extension strategy and maximise your return by minimising wastage. Indeed, many of our existing customers have increased turf sales and virtually eliminated waste by taking our turf and our advice!

14/11/2011 Turf Centres Soil Store Receives Its Finishing Touches.

Today the concrete Alphablock walls were installed inside the new building allowing, dividing up the space and allowing us to store large quantities of our four grades of high quality landscaping soils ready for loose collection. The building has already speeded up deliveries on frosty mornings by allowing loaded turf delivery vehicles to be parked inside overnight instead of having to store the turf inside and then load up in the mornings.

Tomorrow the Tarmac Contractors arrive to begin final surfacing around the new building (putting the icing on the cake) and the final stage of the depot will be complete. This building, along with our newly constucted state of the art, 50'x16' washdown bay, (featuring easy clean upvc walling, two sludge settlemant tanks, a three stage oil interceptor and two washdown points), further reinforcing our position as 'The County's Leading Grower' and showing our commitment to the future of the company, and the environment, through continuous innovation and investment.

11/08/2011 Turf Centre's New Soil Store is Complete.

As we speak the last of the concrete has been pumped and it wont be long until the powerfloaters are started up and doing their stuff! In a few weeks time (once the concrete has cured), we will be able to start the process of filling it with our loose products and loading the lorrys with soil the night before deliveries and keeping them undercover,ready to get straight off in the morning, therefore you get your load of dry soil earlier in the day allowing you to get more work done (or knock off earlier, whichever you prefer!).

12/06/2011 Turf Centre...Proud Sponsors Of Petersfield And Liss NCT Group For The LiBDA Junior Cycle Ride.

We were very pleased to be in a position to provide clothing sponsorship for the local NCT (National Childbirth Trust) team for this years Liphook cycle ride. The local group provide information and counselling to new parents and help create invaluable support networks by introducing local parents at similar stages of pregnancy and teaching them what to expect and how to be prepared. I know of many friends who have used this service (myself included) and they all still keep in regular contact with the other couples they were introduced to and their children are now friends also. I know from personnal experience that the NCT's teachings are invaluable and i cannot recommend them highly enough.

This was the first year that my son, Harry (Three and a half) has taken part in the charity event (after only learning to ride a bike the previous Sunday!) and despite being wet and cold managed a credible 3 laps of the Bohunt School circuit. Well done to him and all the other juniors who were out braving the British weather to do their bit for charity, fingers crossed all the riders will beat last years fantastic total of £65,000!

31/05/2011 Turf Centre Break Ground On New Topsoil Store At Ham Barn Depot.

The ball is rolling on the new building already. Conrete pads have been poured. The steel frame is being manufactured as we speak and should be delivered in a few weeks, and with an anticipated completion date of mid July, will be in perfect time to fill to the gunnels with dry, screened products that help keep our landscapers working on those soggy winter days...everyones a winner!

17/04/2011 Turf Centre Recieves Planning Consent For Purpose Built Topsoil Store.

Today we were pleased to be granted planning permission for a specially designed building at our Ham Barn Depot which will allow us to significantly increase our dry soil storage capacity and allow us to sell loose soil from the depot whilst providing cover for filling of bulk bags year round in order to keep up with demand. This could not have come at a better time having just had a record month for soil deliveries...ever! Word seems to be getting around about Turf Centres range of high quality soil products that prove you dont need to pay the earth for excellent soils, designed to be kind to your pocket AND your garden...not just one or the other!

8/02/2011 Liss Conservation Rangers Are At It Again!

Those gluttons for punishment and hard work in Liss have removed the MASSIVE concrete buffer from the end of the entrance to the Riverside walk that was designed to stop runaway trains. Although proving to be a bigger task than first anticipated,the results to the overall appearance of the area are dramatic and once again we were eager to play our (small) part in the scheme by providing turf to cover the site of the buffer and some extra to bring areas of heavy use back up to standard. The Rangers have really lifted the overall impression of the centre of the village and created a wonderful place for locals to walk the river or just sit and watch the world go by (or not if the crossing gates are down again!) . We are grateful to have been given the opportunity help them realise their vision...I wonder what they will come up with next?

11/06/2010 Support For Local Improvement Projects Continues...

Following on from the sucess with the Liss Conservation Rangers we were approached to assist in any way possible with the creation of a new allotment next to the railway crossing at the southern end of Liss by the Parish Council. The area was being cleared to create the new allotments due to the massive increase in demand from local residents wanting to grow their own organic produce and become more self sufficient. We were only too pleased to donate enough turf to create the walkways and communal areas for the project which will soon be giving back to the local community in its own way...weather permitting of course!

3/04/2010 Turf Centre And Liss Conservation Rangers Join Forces.

Turf Centre were only to pleased to be in a position to donate turf to the Liss Conservation Rangers who have done a fantastic job of renovating the entrance to the Liss Riverside Railway Walk (which used to be part of the Longmoor Military Railway and has recieved Local Nature Reserve Status). The entrance to the walk was previously overgrown and not particularly inviting until the volunteers cleared and leveled the area, installed planters and seating, and resurfaced the footpath along with new edgings. Our donation of turf was the finishing touch to a massive amount of work by the volunteers, who have created a lovely space right in the centre of the village for all to enjoy.

Fortunately we also were able to assist in saving their efforts from being wasted, after a particularly hot and dry weekend before the turf had fully established. Two Turf Centre staff had the idea to modify one of our water bowsers to run a fire hose and were then dispatched to assisit in regularly watering the area until it had rooted fully. Crisis averted... and a pat on the back for Shaun and Rory who did a great job!

11/01/2010 Turf Centre Now Offer Trade Prices On Its Screened Topsoil Range.

Happy New Year to all our trade customers! From now on any customers with proof of trade (business card, letter head etc) will be entitled to the same healthy discounts we offer on our Turf Range for all our collected or delivered 10mm Screened Topsoil Products. We are sure that this will be a ray of sunshine to all landscapers and jobbing builders struggling to keep working through the hardest winter we have had in years (in all respects!).

2/12/2009 Turf Centre Purchase Latest Tracked 3 Way Split Screener.

After managing to massively increase our topsoil sales dispite the economic down turn, we have invested in state of the art topsoil processing equipment allowing us to increase our buffer of dry stored products in order to keep up with the ever growing demand. As Turf Centre strives to process soil only during the dry months of the year to ensure the highest quality, free flowing products our customers have come to expect; we will now be able to increase production during the short summers we have been experiencing in recent years. We can now produce additional grades to satisfy even the most budget conscious customer (producing a grade from the same high quality soils but not screened quite as finely, giving a cost comparable alternative to the poor quality and often unworkable reclaimed soils from unknown sources that more and more people are becoming averse to using).

15/11/2009 Turf Centre Take Delivery Of Its Latest Multi-Purpose Delivery Vehicle.

Following on from the success of our last 18 ton tipper/crane purchase which enabled us to deliver loose, bagged and palletised products with one vehicle, in one delivery, we have now invested in a smaller 10 ton version. Not only does this mean that customers receive all their Turf Centre products together,on time, but it also reduces lorry movements on the roads and helps minimise our carbon footprint. With dimensions the same as a 7.5 ton lorry, it can access resricted deliveries but with the ability to unload itself, removing the manual handling that is usually associated with these smaller vehicles. This maintains the quality of the turf being delivered to our customers, allowing it to go from growing on our turf farms, to where the customer requires, untouched by hand.

Due to high demand Turf Centre can once again offer smaller deliveries of our quality topsoil range, tipped loose, from 3 cubic metres upwards providing substantial savings to customers with the space to take this type of delivery. This now completes our full range of delivery vehicles ranging from 3.5t dropside or tipper, through 10t and 18t tipper/cranes to 26t flatbed with a truck mounted forklift. If you have a specific delivery requirement, we can safely say that no other turf company will be better equipped to meet it!

21/5/2009 Turf Centre Continues Its Support Of Woodcock Green, Beacon Hill.

Over the past three years we have been happy to be involved with Michael Dover, the former Mayor of Haslemere and the reclaimation and regeneration of Woodcock Green. This is now an attractive woodland space for the use of the villagers, following the work of a dedicated bunch of locals who have transformed the area from an overgrown, wooded plot into a well tended, grassy glade. After advising on the initial project and donating our J2 shade tolerant seed and Pre-Turf fertiliser the tireless workers have created a beautiful public space, the success of which has lead to a second phase which doubles the size of the existing project. As a reward for all the hard work we are happy to again donate the seed and fertiliser for this additional phase.

We are sure that all our customers who know Ben will want to join us wishing him all the best for his latest global adventure. Ben has beaten off stiff competition by 35,000 applicants from all over the World to secure the job of "Island Caretaker" to the Islands of The Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, Australia (see www.islandreefjob.com). He has worked with us on and off (between organising charity events, running marathons, circumnavigating Africa including running five marathons and climbing five mountains for charity (see www.afritrex.com)) over the last nine years. Ben has been a friend of the family for about 15 years and has worked for us in various positions from lorry driving during University holidays to Project and Marketing Manager before and after his African adventures. We are however fairly sure that this will be the last time he will be with us...we are far more likely to see him on TV from now on! Anyway Congratulations and Thank You Sooty, we will post your updates and newspaper articles on the office wall as usual, it"s lucky we have a bit more wall space in the new offices!

Regular customers will have seen the large scale development of our Ham Barn site going on over the previous year. We are pleased to announce that the purpose built offices, stores and collection facilities are now finished and up and running. This investment allows us to carry even larger stocks of our Landscape Range of Products including various grades of Turf, Screened Topsoil, Soil improver, Bark, Seed, Fertiliser and Topdress. This enables both Landscapers and members of the public to drop in whenever it suits them and collect goods as required. This is the only dedicated Lawn facility that we know of where you can call in without having to pre-order (sometimes days in advance) and collect almost any amount of freshly harvested turf and other installation related products. Turf for yard sales is harvested and brought in for storage in a temperature controlled holding unit within hours of being cut, keeping it at optimum freshness. Due to high turnover at the depot this is stocked twice daily, so you can rest assured that any turf collected from Turf Centre will not have been hanging around for days baking in the sun as is so often the case at turf stockists.

J3 Advanced info 

55% Slender Creeping Red Fescue
40% Chewings Fescue 
5% Bentgrass.

J3 is a non-rye, ornamental lawn turf requiring more maintenance than our ryegrass mixes J1 and J2, being suitable for a close mown finish - preferably cut with a cylinder mower and box to remove any clippings. We would also recommended a frequent fertiliser regime and periodic scarifying of the lawn to maintain its optimum appearance and condition.

Our J3 mix is particularly suitable for avid gardeners and landscape professionals requiring a fine turf finish. A carefully selected blend of high quality cultivars designed to provide a turf with excellent shoot density and fineness of leaf, good disease resistance and short growth characteristics. 

All turfgrass cultivars used are independently tested and rated by the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) In our continuous efforts to improve our product we reserve the right to alter specifications without prior notice.

General Customer Information

Turf Centre is the county's leading turf grower. We are Founder Members of the Turfgrass Growers Association (the only Association in the UK dedicated to the production of quality cultivated turf) and also the Turfgrass Producers International (the only international turfgrass producers Association).

Turf Centre is the ONLY grower in the county to date to offer locally grown TGA Certified Turf within our product range. Our turf rolls are small enough to be manageable but large enough to allow swift installation. All of our turf is designed from high rating cultivars (as independently tested by the STRI), selected on the basis of enabling the production of a strong turf, with dense sward, good colour and fineness of leaf. All of our turf is weed-treated. We do not sell pasture turf!

Current opening hours are: 7.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday

Collections ex-depot commence 15 mins after opening and finish 15 mins before closing (7.45am to 4.45pm).

With clear instructions to guide you through the process from ground preparation to initial aftercare, our installation guide will give you the information required to initiate a beautiful lawn whilst the Turf Centre Fact Sheet Series has been designed to encompass the topics we are most frequently asked to advise upon by our customers.

The ordering, delivery and payment process for our products couldn't be simpler:

1. Measure the area you wish to turf (length and width) or fill with soil (length, width and depth)

2. Phone for an accurate quotation, to discuss the most appropriate product(s) to suit your needs

and to arrange a convenient day for delivery (or collection)

3. Should you prefer not to wait in on the specified day of delivery, you may arrange to pay by

credit or debit card at the point of ordering or else advise the tele-assistant where you wish to

leave payment at the delivery address

4. Confirm your name, delivery address, contact telephone number, order requirements, method of

payment and request any literature or advice you may require. Payment options are cash

on delivery, or prepayment by cash, cheque, MasterCard, Visa, Maestro or Solo.

5. Your delivery will now be confirmed!

Collection From Turf Centre

We strive to ensure that all our products can be collected immediately or at short notice. Our customers are welcome to collect turf in any quantity and by purchasing direct from the grower, they can rest assured that the turf will be freshly cut, readily available, excellent value (as there is no distributor's mark up) and that there will be advice and literature on hand should it be required.

Should you wish to collect a specific grade or large quantity of turf, we recommend that you phone to advise us of your requirements in advance. Please refer to Products Range section for other goods available On Demand.

Delivery

Delivery is available to most areas within the central southern counties of England on a range of vehicles to fulfil almost any delivery requirement and is free on all orders over 80 Sq.M. (Min. delivery 10 Sq.M)

At Turf Centre, the price we quote is the price you pay so you will never suffer the annoyance of expecting one bill and receiving a higher one - all prices quoted are inclusive of VAT and delivery.

Delivery times are subject to seasonal fluctuations but we aim to deliver within 24-48 hours. We will agree the delivery day (and any AM/PM preferences to be taken into consideration) at the point of order. Deliveries are normally pallet offload by forklift or HIAB crane and to nearest point of delivery.

Should you not wish to wait at the delivery point to accept the goods, we are happy to leave them in your absence so long as delivery and payment arrangements have been made at the point of order. We accept cash on delivery, or credit/debit card payment over the telephone at point of order.

All Turf Centre drivers are clearly identifiable to enable you to feel safe in the knowledge that the company you ordered from is the same that will deliver.

Express Delivery

Turf Centre Express Delivery allows for same day provision of goods for those needing their goods in a hurry. Due to high demand for the service it is subject to availability. There is an additional charge for this service.

J2 contains a variety of dwarf perennial ryegrass selected for exhibiting fast establishment and good density. It is slow growing, hardwearing, tolerant to close mowing and displays fine, dark green leaves.The significant percentage of slender red creeping fescue contributes to the drought, shade and salt tolerance of the turf, whilst its fine, dark green leaves and fineness of leaf add to the overall visual impact.

Once established, smooth stalked mg is nearly as resistant to wear and tear as dwarf perennial ryegrass and has the benefit of being cold tolerant.

The very fine-leaved chewings fescue included further increases sward density and the heat, drought and shade tolerance of J2 turf. J2 is a good choice for customers who want a turf that will tolerate wear and shade, but do not wish to compromise on the visual aesthetics of their lawn.

Turf Centre produce the widest range of free literature available from any turf grower in the county to date, which enables us to guide you every step of the way prior to or post-purchase. We are only a phone call away and always happy to help.

1. Measure the area you wish to turf (length and width) or fill with soil (length, width and depth)
2. Phone for an accurate quotation, to discuss the most appropriate product(s) to suit your needs

3. Should you prefer not to wait in on the specified day of delivery, you may arrange to pay by
credit or debit card at the point of ordering or else advise the tele-assistant where you wish to

Garden Centres & Nurseries
Turf Centre has been supplying direct to garden centres and nurseries in Hampshire, West Sussex, Surrey and surrounding areas since we were established in 1971.

We appreciate the shelf life for turf is limited so our minimum order to qualify for free delivery is just 42m² (50 rolls) and we deliver to most areas of our market 6 days a week. Alternatively, you are welcome to collect any amount from our depot.

Turf centre wins award for souths leading grower

The recent extreme cold conditions have stopped harvesting on the online turf production unit. The soil beneath the turf has frozen into a solid block making harvesting impossible. The turf does not come to any harm but it is just a waiting game to allow the soil to thaw. The dense sward acts as an insulation which often prevents the soil beneath from freezing, but once it had frozen the turf keeps it cold and prevents the thaw. Andrew Mercer, Production director, commented: “ In the winter harvesting is often limited to the warmer times of the day, but it is unusual to be completely frozen. It is not predicted that any harvesting will take place this week. It allows time for essential maintenance and we can prepare for the busy spring ahead.

6/4/2009 Turf Centres Ben Southall wins 'Best Job in the World' (after this one of course!)
We are sure that all our customers who know Ben will want to join us wishing him all the best for his latest global adventure. Ben has beaten off stiff competition from 35,000 applicants to secure the job as caretaker to Hamilton Island on The Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, Australia (see islandreefjob.com). He has worked with us on and off (between organising charity events,running marathons, circumnavigating Africa including running five marathons and climbing five mountains for charity (see Afritrex.com)) over the last nine years. Ben has been a friend of the family for about 15 years and has worked for us in various positions from lorry driving during University holidays to Project and Marketing Manager before and after his African adventures. We are however fairly sure that this will be the last time he will be with us...its more likely we will see him on TV now! Anyway Congratulations and Thank You Sooty,we will post your updates and Newspaper articles on the office wall as usual, lucky we have a bit more wall space in the new offices! Watch this space...

1/4/2009 Turf Centre moves up to Sq.M rolls.
From the 1st of April all Turf Centre rolls will be supplied at the larger Sq.M size. This will allow lower, more stable pallets for us to deliver and for Landscapers to collect from the depot. Also offering time, labour (and Lumbar) savings when laying as less turf have to be handled and laid. As an added bonus in the current economic climate we have deceided to freeze the prices for turf collected from the depot at the old Sq.Yard roll cost. This is not an April fools joke! If you come and collect your turf we give you 16% free. Now thats what you call value for money!

This Turf Centre Organic Based Pre-Turfing Fertiliser contains a special blend of elements key to turf nutrition which will help give your new lawn the essential nutrients it requires in the early stages to encourage healthy establishment.

Nitrogen is an essential constituent of all proteins, so it is vital to any living plants. Phosphorus is associated with the transfer and storage of energy in the plant making it vital to the living processes within the cell. Potassium is essential for efficient water relationships in the plant, both in controlling water content of cells and movement of water through the tissues and in transpiration. Turf Centre recommends the application of this product at the following rate: 1-2oz per square yard or 34 -68 grams per square metre with the higher rate of application suited to poorer soil types.

As Dug Soil
This product is generally used for building up levels prior to topping with screened topsoil to attain a final level and finish for turfing. It is available delivered loose loaded by the cubic metre. Minimum delivery 4m³, delivery in full metres only.

10mm Screened TopsoilA quality topsoil, screened by us at our topsoil processing plant to ensure its suitability for use under lawns or for general planting purposes. The topsoil is not sterilised. Available delivered loose-loaded by the cubic metre (minimum local delivery 1m³, delivery in full metres only) or in Bulk Bags. Alternatively, collect Bulk Bags or Handy Bags from our depot.

Fibrous Loam
This product is produced from composted turf put aside as part of our quality control process, and is suitable for shrub and flowerbeds, tree pits and vegetable gardens. Minimum delivery 4m³, delivery in full metres only, limited availability.

Collection From The Turf Centre

At Turf Centre, we try to ensure that goods can be collected immediately or at short notice. Our customers are welcome to collect turf in any quantity and by purchasing direct from the grower, they can rest assured that the turf will be freshly cut, readily available and that there will be advice on hand should it be required. Should you wish to collect a specific grade or large quantity of turf, we recommend that you phone to advise us of your requirements in advance. Topsoil is stocked at in handy size bags of approximately 25kg and in Bulk Bags. Please contact us for up-to-date information on the products available at Turf Centre.

Delivery

Delivery is available to most areas within the central southern counties of England and is free on all orders over 100 rolls.

At Turf Centre, the price we quote is the price you pay so you will never suffer the annoyance of expecting one bill and receiving a higher one - all prices quoted are inclusive of VAT and delivery.Delivery times are subject to seasonal fluctuations but we aim to deliver within 24-48 hours of the point of order and we will agree the delivery day with you at the point of order.Should you not wish to wait at the delivery point to accept the goods, we are happy to leave them in your absence so long as delivery and payment arrangements have been made at the point of order. This is the same module as the previous with a few altered settings. The gallery is now created from an xml file instead of a directory. Also the gallery has been attached to the smooth scroller 2 module.

Editing

When editing your website, right click over Gallery thumbnails and "Select a File" and choose an xml file of images. You will find the example gallery.xml file in the data/xml directory. Flashblocks ML will take care of the rest, creating both thumbnail and full size images to the specified dimensions.

The Quotes Module fades in and out displaying a list of quotes to the visitor. The speed at which each quote is displayed varies depending on the length of each quotes text and the speed that the designer designated while designing the website.

This Module allows the administrator to easily add, delete and rearrange items, all from withing Flashblocks ML.

Quotes Module

Scroll through and select the product that you wish to learn more about. Then select the product from the description area, on the right, to add that item to your PayPal shopping cart.

This example is, once again, created by the List Module. The contents are the same as those found in the previous example Although this time, on the right, there is an additional movie clip, that displays the full text from the original list. As before products may be added, rearranged, edited, and deleted by the administrator.

The List Module powered News feed allows for many more options then previously available. Display news in a running list or, as in this example, display just the headlines, with additional viewable details, as in the News 2 example that follows.

All three of these News Example are reading from the same file, list_news.xml.

The News Module and RSS Subscription Module work well together allowing your visitors to view your latest news and subscribe via RSS feed.

Administrators may edit multiple news files, in RSS format, right from Flashblocks ML, adding, deleting and rearranging news items.

Right-Click or press Ctrl+Shift while your mouse is over each module to see editing options.

It's easy to create this gallery in Flash with Flashblocks ML. All you need is a directory of images or a single XML file and everything will be resized and created for you.

Editing from a Directory

When editing your website, right click over the Gallery thumbnails and "Select a Directory" of images. Flashblocks ML will take care of the rest, creating both thumbnail and full size images to the specified dimensions.

Designing

Just drop the "Gallery thumbnails" movie clip onto the stage and give it a unique instance name. Resize it to the dimensions you wish for the scrolling thumbnails.

Then drop the "Gallery full size image" movie clip onto the stage and give it a unique instance name. Resize it to the dimensions you desire for your full size image.

Customizing

Open the movie clips, "Gallery thumbnails" and "Gallery full size image". You will see many option for customizations. Please see the ReadMe.htm file for further instructions.

A blend of species and cultivars designed to produce a hardwearing turf, with good colour and disease resistance, whilst retaining a reasonable fineness of leaf and texture.

Soil Products - All grades are screened to 10mm and are processed by ourselves from free draining local sandy soils and known sources. We strive to process and supply dry, quality soils. Both bagged and loose products are stored under cover, and bags have a skirted, tie top. We do not/will not, sell reclaimed soils/skip waste. All grades are available for inspection in our display area at our Ham Barn Depot. We have all soil grades independantly examined and all exceed the standards for BS certification. We know that you can buy soil cheaper but in most cases this is because someone else has already paid for it to be disposed of! All products subject to availability.

Blended Soil

This is our entry level soil that is very popular with landscapers and people on a budget, it is a blend of 70% screened soil and 30% peat free compost and it provides a real, nutrient rich alternative to cheap poor quality reclaimed soils that are widely available and become unworkable and compacted when wet. It is available delivered loose loaded by the cubic metre. Minimum loose-loaded delivery 3 Cu.M. (delivery in full metres only) or in any number of Bulk Bags delivered or collected.

Screened Topsoil

A quality sandy topsoil, screened by us at our topsoil processing plant to ensure its suitability for use under lawns or for general planting purposes. The topsoil is not sterilised. Available delivered loose-loaded by the cubic metre from 3 Cu.M. upwards (delivery in full metres only) or in any number of Bulk Bags. Alternatively, collect Bulk Bags or Handy Bags from our depot.

Blended Loam

Our premium grade Fibrous Loam blended with PAS100 Certified Compost and screened to 10mm. Suitable for all gardens and landscaping projects, encouraging growth in grass and shrubs. Rich in nutrients. Free draining with excellent moisture retention properties. Available in any number of Bulk Bags delivered or collected.

Fibrous Loam

Seed

Turf Centre bags the same seed it uses in the production of its turf to allow customers to overseed/repair their lawns with the same high quality cultivars it was grown from (or establish their own lawn from scratch). All our seed is treated with Headstart which allows the seed to absorb water more quickly, geminate faster, and increases competitive ability , leading to around 20% more plants. We stock J2 and J3 (see Turf section at top of the page for descriptions and suitability) in packs of 1,10 and 25kg which cover 20, 200 and 500 Sq.M. respectively when seeding from scratch or 40, 400 and 1000 Sq.M. respectively when overseeding. Seed can be collected from the depot or delivered as part a Turf/Soil order.

Top dressing

Top dressing an existing lawn is becoming a more common part of customers maintenance regime. It improves the drainage of a lawn by helping break down the thatch layer, preventing run off and allowing greater, more even penetration of water to the roots. This is even more beneficial to lawns on heavier, compacted/clay soils when undertaken in conjunction with aerating(with a fork or hollow tines). Once brushed in, the topdressing can fill the voids and still allow air and water to supply the roots and aid draining of excess water. It is also a good medium to seed into when overseeding/repairing your lawn. Turf Centre have two types of top dressing, both are produced utilising PAS100 certified Peat Free Compost screened to 5mm. The main benefit of using a compost top dressing is that it also conditions the plant by providing slow release nutrients, helping the lawn to stay green throughout the year, also strengthening it against disease and aiding retention of moisture in drier times.

Organic Top dressing

This is a straight compost product which we recommended for sandy soils with good drainage .

Sandmix Top dressing

This is the same 5mm screened compost mixed with washed sand in a 50/50 blend, we recomend using this product on heavier/clay soils.

Amenity Bark Mulch

A budget/contract grade environmental landscape mulch used to maintain weed-free borders in shrub beds and to aid in retaining valuable moisture in the ground.

Fine Ornamental Bark

This is a higher quality pine and spruce bark finely graded to produce a consistent 8.35mm particle size. It enhances and complements any mixed plant border while ensuring it remains free of weeds.

Pine Nuggets/Play Bark

A selected chipped pine and spruce forest bark with a 20-50mm particle size, ideal for play areas and for creating new paths and walkways. Visually pleasing in landscaped areas with mature plantings or tall trees.

All of our bark products are supplied in .8 Cu.M bags. Amenity and Ornamental Barks will cover approximately 15.75 Sq.M. at a depth of 50mm.

The coverage offered by our Play Bark differs depending upon the application. Therefore a metre bag of Play Bark will cover 5.25 Sq.M. at a depth of 150mm or 2.76 Sq.M. at a depth of 300mm. When using Pine Nuggets/Play Bark as a decorative product it will cover approximately 9.45 Sq.M. at a depth of 80mm.

In order to conform to BS EN1177, this covers critical fall heights within Playground areas. Our Play Bark needs to be used at a depth of 150mm which will arrest a fall of around 2.5m, if used at a depth of 300mm arrest height will increase to around 3m.
